Helen moved to Chetwynd End for the first time aged 14 - though she didn't know it yet. Spending her teenage years living in Avondale, she had no idea that Chetwynd End was anything other than a road she walked through on the way to school. But she did always wonder about the history of the interesting-looking buildings she passed along the way.
Fast-forward to her forties, Helen moved to Chetwynd End for the second time, and this time (after a lifetime spent working on her family history) she started to research her own house and came to realise what a very interesting place she lived in.
Now, in semi-retirement and with more time to immerse herself in local history, she spends most of her free time as a volunteer researcher for Newport & District History Society and Victoria County History Shropshire.
